Winning Station {Visiting - Car Repairs}

It's 2013 and we have made our first stop at Winning for the year {I know that there will be more}.

I actually got a picture on the way past the first time this year

After our unexpected tyre issues we had repairs done and decided to head to Winning for a few days to check the car over properly before making our way to our next stop.

As always it was a wonderful visit and we are both truly grateful for everything that K & A did for us to get us back on the road and making sure that our car was in a great working order before our Gibb River Trip. The smalls had a great time Kyla helping A around the house & Kaleb helping L with the lawns again.

We will however be back again after Lyndon as K is going to help J do something else to the car {I don't know because it went right over my head}.

Next stop, Lyndon Station.

From Kalgoorlie to..... {Driving - Caravan Park - Driving - Tilt tray}

Well we have finally left Kalgoorlie and decided to head the road less traveled rather than following the main roads.  We left just before 9am after packing down, saying good-byes and of course filling up with fuel.

Saturday saw us driving Kalgoorlie - Menzies - Sandstone - Mt Magnet - Mullewa

Goodbye Kalgoorlie

Sunset heading into Mullewa

 Sunset at the caravan park in Mullew

Not too bad timing wise, we arrived in Mullewa just before 6pm and spent the night at the local Caravan Park, it was packed {NOT} with only one other van there.  A quick set up, dinner, a lovely hot shower and then to bed ready for a day of driving Sunday.  It was actually really good priced, non powered $13.50.

Sunday started out well, easy driving lots of wildlife {think emu's, lizards, eagles a plenty, kangaroo's, sheep, cows and even goats}, we stopped a few times for a break and lunch.  We got to Gasycone Junction and decided to head to Carnarvon for the night as planned because we still had plenty of time.

This not so little bloke was in no hurry to get off the road

There is something interesting about old telegrah poles that are still standing.  I imagine everything that they told, the stories of them being put in place and everything they have seen in the time they have been standing in that one place.

Murchison Roadhouse
{a lovely new building and nice looking caravan park grounds}

Sunsets just before we... STOP!

Then at 4.30pm about 30kms out of Carnarvon {or planned stopped for the night} our right car tyre went flying past the window, closely followed by the disc brake....... NOT what we had planned just before we hit town or at in in fact. It is easy to laugh about the fact now but I can tell you it scared the pants of me when it happened.

One's tyre is not supposed to go flying past one's window, EVER!

It was however a beautiful sunset, even over a tilt tray.

Thankfully we had finally organised our roadside assistance and that covered us for the tilt tray that we needed to put the Patrol on {and also to tow the trailer}, they are covering our extended stay in the motel in Carnarvon and also for a hire car while we are stuck here.  J is stocked to spend so much time in his most favourite of places.

So Sunday saw us driving Mullewa - Murchison - Gasycone Junction and slightly past.  And saw us towed to Carnarvon.

Monday has seen me trying to entertain the smalls with none of our normal 'things'. Although the park that they had started last time we where in town in actually finished, so we went there while waiting for the washing to finish. Even us adults had some fun.

Tuesday should hopefully see the caliper arrive for the car {thankfully all of the other parts needed where in town already} and Wednesday should see us leaving town.

This 1400kms of driving has by far been our most exciting and has also {now} given us the most laughs.

Goodbye Kalgoorlie {Caravan Park - Work}

One thing that I will miss about Kalgoorlie, the amazing sunsets, lovely old buildings and parks.  It doesn't nothing for my desire to have an old house again, to live in something that has character and to show it new life.

There is actually a fabulous looking 'Bank of Australia' building that is for sale in Boulder but sadly not something we would ever consider buying because, well it is in Boulder and that is not really somewhere I would like to live forever.

It is hard to believe that we have been in Kalgoorlie for more than a month, time has flown in one way and dragged by in another sense.  Living in a caravan park for this long has been one of the downfalls, we have stayed places for a month of more before but it has felt different to this. I am well and truly ready to move onto our next location.

The weekend that was {Visitor - Caravan Park - Work}

We had a wonderful weekend just passed catching up with family.

My brother in-law & sister in-law drove 500+ kms {each way mind you} to spend the night with us here in sunny Kalgoorlie.  Now they have both lived here at some point in their lives and the only reason they came was to see us, how lucky are we :)

It was a nice relaxing afternoon on Saturday.  They took the smalls shopping for their belated Christmas/Birthday presents and then sat around building Lego on the lawn before we headed out to a local pub for dinner.  My cousin and her family joined us for dinner too! Poor Chloe was very upset when it was time to say goodbye as they headed out to the Perth the next morning too and she wouldn't get to see us again when she got back, bless her.

We had a wonderful BIG cookup on Sunday morning for breakfast.  Sharing pictures and stories from our travels so far.  The kids had a great time with their Aunty & Uncle, I'm sure the drive home was a break.

All too soon it was time to say good-bye again so that they could get back to Perth for Monday's return to work.  It was a lovely {all be it very short} visit since we had not seen them since December last year and we have grand plans of catch up later in the year up north, hopefully.
