There is something about Rustic
There is something about old, rustic, fall apart items that really grab me. I can see what they would have been like, what they got used for and what they are now.
What is the history of them? What was it used for, by whom?
My Dad & J worked on an old lean to shed at my parents house recently and stayed with it's classic 'I'm going to fall apart look'.

Where to go first?
Where do you want to go first? Another fabulous question we are often asked.
However, where we want to go and where we do go are two totally different questions.
While we are in Western Australia there are a number of places I really want to visit for the first time and places I would like to return to to reexplore.
Am dreaming of long bush walks in Pemberton, a place I frequently used to visit as a teenager and somewhere I've not been to since our honeymoon more than 7 years ago {pretty terrible given we have family friends down there}. Looking forward to hanging out with my grandparents around Yallingup, close to the ocean for afternoon strolls & close to lots of yummy wineries. Sometime at the farm watching J rebuild a sheering shed {pity we will not be around to see the sheerers}.
I've always wanted to visit Karajini National Park and that is on the list for this year. A return {for longer than a day} to Broome and more than a week in Kunanarra if we can swing it. Would love to explore more remote areas around Shark Bay given we will have the camper rather than a tent & Coral Bay would also be fabulous at the same time of year.
Really the list can be as long as my arm for WA and we would never get everywhere in a year, it will just not be possible.
Let's see what we get to see from here & what we don't, should be interesting

A Delay
Ever have a feeling that something is coming?
That you are going to get a phone/news/result before it even happens? Well I did earlier this week.
Back story......
Recently I have been doing some data analysis working for a company. It was originally till December 2011, was then extended till the end of this month and recently a discussion was had about what 'my plans are'? You guessed it they wanted to extend the contract again until the end of Febuary, a discussion with husband type person and we decided that realistically we are silly to turn down realtivly easy work and we didn't have a set leave date in the first place.
Same afternoon, phone rings and our camper has been delayed! It was due to leave before Australia Day, which meant we would have it in the first few days of February. Now however it will not be leaving until early to middle of the following week {hopefully} Realistically I expect we should have it by mid February, if it is earlier I will be happy and it better not be any later!
So allow some time to pack, empty, repack, move and we will not really be in anyway ready to leave before my now current contract is due to finish.
There must have been a reason, a feeling. I must have known deep down that it was going to happen, freaky/fate nonetheless.
So 6 more weeks until we pack what belongs we have left into our camper. Around 6 weeks until we actually hit the road, 6 weeks until the start of our new begining, 6 weeks till we start living our dream, 6 weeks until the start of the rest of our lives.

What's the plan?
Appears to be the favourite question to ask of people who know we are about to hit the road.
What do we PLAN to travel in?
When do we PLAN to leave?
Where do we PLAN to go?
How long do we PLAN to go?
They then all get the shock of their lives when we say WE HAVE NO PLAN!
Well we plan to travel in a camper trailer {which I have previously posted about} that has been delayed but should be here early February. We are hoping to leave at the end of February, we think we will head south for a while first but we certainly have no idea how long we plan to go.
I am excited/scared/worried/happy and a whole range of other emotions about we lack of plan but it is something different and life changing and I really just can't wait.

Southbound
Literally!
We traveled south to Busselton over the weekend to head to Southbound Festival 2012. I had ummed & arred over going but I was so drawn to the line-up that I just did it and I am so very glad that I did.
Some amazing music in a fabulous location, with wonderful weather {& the company wasn't so bad either}.
A few that I saw over the two days: Josh Pyke, Fleet Foxes, Drapht, John Butler Trio {OMG he is the most amazing musician to see perform live, I want to see him again every.single.week!}, Kimbra, The Jezabels, Missy Higgins {can't wait for her new album}, The Vines & so very much more.
It makes me wish I would be around to head to Bunbury for Grovin the Moo in May, without even seeing the line up!

DEBIT FREE
Alright so not technically debit free but so bloody close it is exciting.
Settlement has happened on the house, we are now FREE from a mortgage! I will very much miss the house, alright not so much the house as our garden/decking/patio area but onto the next chapter of our lives.

Happy Birthday Little Man
It is really hard to believe that my first born turned SIX today! I know that we all say it but I truly have no idea what has happened to the last 12 months, let alone the last 6 years.
He truly is an amazing little boy, whom at times he certainly challenges us both but for the most part is a pleasure to have around. Grown so much, loved so much, played super hard & changes every.single.day.

Goals for 2012
Someone asked this question in a group I am involved in & really there is only thing I want to achieve in 2012:
Spending more quality time with my family, while totally being out of my comfort zone traveling places wide & far

Day trip - Donnybrook
A day trip to catch up with family & take a break from all that is packing up a life ready to move out.
Was a wonderful day, even if it was 4 hours travel their & back to do it.
