We are leaving Perth!
Heading north, heading away and hopefully finding some new places to explore.
It felt a little weird the further away from Perth we got, knowing that I/we couldn't just pop up to Perth to visit with friends and family. I know, I know, it isn't like this is something new for us but this is a new stage of our lives and it is a lot hard to know that this option is lost to me.
We decided since we had driven the cost road, many times before today we would head a totally different direction. We left my parents house and head out Great Northern Highway to Bullsbrook, Bindoon and into New Norcia. It had been a long time since I we had driven through New Norcia so it was nice to actually take sometime to have a look around at the lovely old buildings and some of the history of the place.
It's hard to believe that the town really is only there now for tourists to visit and learn about the history of the beautiful buildings that once housed hundreds of school children, orphans, nuns and aboriginals from the early 1900's.
With no real plans on where we wanted to spend the night after lunch in Moora we jumped in the car and continued on our way. A whole array of towns we've not visited before, Watheroo, Marchagee, Coorow and Carnamah. Next was Three Springs, Mingenew before bypassing Dongara and heading to Geraldton for the night.
We headed to a Caravan Park for the night rather than heading out of town and finding a free camp. First one we came across we went into and it really wasn't that badly priced at $40 for an ensuite site.
Dinner and an early night before we hit the road again for our few days relaxing and re-exploring Kalbarri

Nerren Nerren Rest Stop {North of Geraldton}
Our trip back to Perth meant we got to explore somemore places as night stops on the way home. Our first was 446 - Nerren Nerren and even at this time of year there was a few people stopped, can't imagine how full it is when it is 'peak season'.
It was certainly chilli compared to Winning and when we woke the next morning the sky was full of clouds. Big fat rain clouds.

Fig Tree Crossing Rest Stop {Geraldton}
After originally planning a stop along the coast line outside of Geraldton we decided to try this little place. Now it was listed as a free stop but the council have since done work on the site and are now charging a massive $5.50 per night.
It is a massive open space and there is still plenty of shade {and even though the sign says only 48 hours it appears some had been there longer with no comment from the council who come to collect the money every other day}.
We stayed for two nights in total which gave us a change to catch up on some school work, get some shopping done {including some more walking friendly shoes for me} and also have lunch with my grandparents who are on their way north for 'the winter'.
It was really lovely to watch the sunset & rise from a different location. Surround by trees and farm land, listening to sheep.
Next stop Kalbarri
