Wickam & Port Hedland {Family Fun}

We broke up our Yanrey stay with a lovely weekend trip north to spend a weekend with my sister, Alison.  A stop in Karratha for supplies and collecting my Dad from the airport before heading to Wickham for the night.

That is where the fun began, Alison, Chris, Justin and myself left Dad with the 5 grandchildren and headed further north to Port Hedland for a weekend at the NorthWest Festival.  It was a wonderful weekend filled with loads of amazing music.

Back to Wickham for a night, which did turn into two before heading back to Yanrey.

It was a great weekend spent with family {even if we did leave with gastro} and I’m hopeful we can make it work again for next year.  Well provided there is artists we actually want to see!

Yanrey Station {Working}

After having a wonderful picnic there last year we decided to stop at Barridale again on our way to Yanrey.  Was a great idea.

It has taken more than 12 months but we found ourselves back at Yanrey Station again.  Not much has changed mind you, well except for the number of people around for mustering this year.

Justin embarked on bathroom repairs, plumbing issues and restoring one end of the old homestead verandah.  The most exciting, was finishing of the installation of a kitchen in the homestead, it even has running hot & cold water!

While he was working away, we plodding along with our school work.  In between times looking around, cleaning old pressed tin kitchen walls, feeding poddy calves, watching birds and avoiding the dust from the cattle yards.
August said goodbye to September and we also a week later said see you later to Yanrey…..

Lyndon Station {Working}

Where do I start with this visit?

Alright so as usual Justin worked hard, repairing a verandah, patching 100 year old walls, adding amazing benches to the cottage and too many other things to list.

 We had a very full on few weeks, between school and play the time flew by.

There was painting and dodge ball, motorbike and horse riding, full moons and chickens.
Kaleb and Kyla enjoyed being invited to the SoTA camp {at Wooramel}.  It was great to see them join in the activities with all of the children that they know at the school, along with all of those that they don’t.  It was a real learning experience, for both of them in many ways.

The biggest thing to happen this trip however would have to be cutting off my dreadlocks.  From long hot and heavy locks to short hair is a real change that I see lasting for a fair while.
