Historial Gwalia Townsite {Day Visit}

So much history, so many stories and so well maintained.

The old pub, the first government owned in Western Australia is a grand old building.

The townsite of Gwalia is all but abandoned these days and has been since the early 1900's has so much of a story to tell.  The buildings are so old and the museum which is now on the site of a very large mining whole has some grand old buildings.  One of which was Herbert Hoovers house, which is now part of the museum and used as B & B.

 We had a great look around the museum, including coffee & scones on the verandah of Hoover House.

We saw the old Mine Managers house, the Mine Managers office and all of the old things that they had inside them.

I have HEAPS of pictures of all of the old stuff inside the museum buildings {so am going to limit to only a couple here}.

Next was a spot of lunch down in the old townsite before walking around to have a look at the old buildings, homes of families & workers. It is wonderful to see that the people of Leonora are using their own time to maintain these buildings, to keep the history of the area.
