We finally arrived at Lyndon, even if it was a week later than planned.
What a beautiful spot for this lovely old homestead. It was very quiet when we arrived {but it wouldn't be for long} and the lovely Cath showed us a few place we would be able to set our home up for our stay. We ended up right by the pool, under a lovely shady tree which looked directly at the homestead. My idea of perfect!
Sunday ended up being a very nice relaxing afternoon and we had a nice dinner with everyone. Monday came around and J was ready to get into things. He started looking at what needed to be done, checked what was on hand and what needed to be ordered so that he could get to work. There was a 'grass shed' to convert to a house {with all it's walls} and a room in the old workers type quarters that had had some love by termites that needed some work.
Sadly for J a few days after we arrived he came down with a very nasty gastro bug {which thankfully the rest of us missed} that saw he all but out of action for nearly 3 full days {although he did try to do something day two and he managed to help attach some IKEA furniture on day three}.
The kids had a wonderful time in the meantime as it was still school holidays and the four Darcy children where there to keep them entertained. There was swimming, pony riding & feeding, bike riding, cubby playing, chicken feeding and anything else you can think of.
Before we knew it it was time to gets started back at school, for
everyone. Kaleb & Kyla did enjoy some morning sports with the kids
and their wonderful teach Hannah for a few mornings which was great for
everyone. Luckily they both did really well with the start back after the time off, which made it easier for all of us.
Even better for them & me was that Hannah decided to have an art
morning the Saturday before Mother's Day with all of the children.
Needless to say my two where over the moon with being able to do this
and it was wonderful to watch Hannah in action and also what the smalls
created together and alone while doing it.
Activity #1 involved drawing two pictures, tearing them up and then dropping from a height to glue them onto a third piece of paper
Activity #2 was an ink drawing that Hannah had done before and the children had to interpret them and turn them into something
Activity #3 by far my favourite. The four children worked together to recreate their version of some art work.
Activity #4 was painting with promite. This was awesome and they turned out really well {not something I would ever think of painting with}
Activity #5 was a trip down the to river bed for some charcoal drawings. Kaleb was the only one who held interest with this one and his drawing turned out amazing.
Mother's Day saw a relaxing day with a wonderful surprise of handmade cards & flowers that they smalls did without me knowing {Thanks again Hannah}. I do have pictures but I not sure where I have filed them in my wonderful system... OOPS.
I had a lovely timing relaxing, helping out and having a look at all of the lovely old buildings around the homestead. Not to mention getting to know new people and forming {what I think anyways} was a lovely bond with two lovely young women from Denmark, who took to calling me 'Mami'.
It isn't good bye to Lyndon however, more of a see you in a few weeks. Yes that is right we will be going back for J to finish off what he started and I can't wait.
