For the
50-60kms that the gravel road is into the national park it took hours,
literally! We after early afternoon and
just pack up and let the kids have an afternoon exploring the dry river bed,
something that we all needed.
We decided to only stay two nights {and to be totally honest that is all that was needed, even doing the walks with four small children and a man with a sore foot}. The first afternoon was lovely and relaxing. We had a visit from some Kookaburras which kept the smalls entertained and they had a wonderful time with play dough, cars and exploring the dry river bed.
So we spent one full day going for the walks and exploring everything in the Bungle Bungles. I guess when you have seen as many as we have, these ones are slightly disappointing but at the same time they are amazing to see up close and personal.
Sunset over the Bungle Bungles was well worth the drive before dinner to see and take pictures off. The way the rock changes colour, several times over only a few minutes is something that you will never forget and something that pictures just don’t do justice.
I am glad that we decided to trek in and then out of the Bungle Bungles as it was worth it.
